The podium at one of the best-attended events at this year’s AERO was filled with top-class guests:
- Dr. Reiner Stemme, Reiner Stemme Utility Air Systems, initiator of the elfin project
- Dr. Frank Anton, Head of Siemens e-Aircraft
- Axel Lange, Lange Aviation
- André Borschberg, pilot and co-founder of Solar Impulse
Editorial director Lars Reinhold and AEROKURIER author Thomas Schüttoff led the audience through an extremely exciting topic. Everywhere at the show, you could feel the spirit of optimism; the successes in the field of electric flight in recent months seem to have given the industry wings.
But there are many questions that leave us wavering between vision and reality: How practical are electric drives already today? How will the storage density of electrical energy develop? What drives people like André Borschberg to fly around the world with zero emissions at a huge expense? When will there be electric passenger transport or aerial taxi drones in our cities?
Axel Lange was not only able to demonstrate his profound knowledge of electric propulsion systems, but his company Lange Aviation is also currently the most experienced series producer of certified electric propulsion systems with over 90 aircraft delivered since 2004. That’s more than all the other electric aircraft in the world combined. The fleet boasts nearly 100,000 flight hours of experience.
